I get many "libusb requires write access to USB eppson nodes" when user not rootwhen I try "sane-find-scanner". Add it if necessary. Forgot to mention that I use or rather attempt to use the scanner over the TCP.
I also have this problem, but not with all Epson scanners. I used to use the Xsane software with the HP scanner. This is a problem with an Epson GT in ubuntu I used the 'sudo chown userid. Can confirm that louBurnard's method mentioned in comment 96 also worked for me with Ubuntu After selecting the Epson scanner in the Xsane epkoda window and after clicking on the 'Continue at your own risk' button, the initial Xsane GUI showed up, as follows.
Should I start another issue or stay here with people who understand? If wayland, have you tried with xorg? You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. When I selected 'Epson' from the following window that showed 'video0' and 'Epson' devicesXsane gave a popup error message:. Any pointers or tips are appreciated. Not checking for parallel port scanners. The Brother MFCW printer- fax-scanner, brscan4 based, does not work with the symlink trick, the scanner is detected by sane-find-scanner, epkoaa is not listed by scanimage -l, and will only work after enabling the root account and issuing the 'su root' and 'xsane' commands in a terminal; a simple sudo xsane won't work.
